When learning about the idea and synopsis of this film, I was instantly drawn to it due to its relatability. This film holds in itself emotional and complicated themes around the harsh truths of relationships within a family across generations. Not everything we do with our best intentions is best for everyone else. We have to truly listen to our loved ones to understand them and grow together through change.

This film gave me a lot of challenges. First of all, this was the first film I worked on since graduating from university, so my equipment was limited. Second, for certain scenes the director and his team wanted a sound I had never worked with. And lastly, I had an upright piano that was going slightly out of tune. 

However, the challenges I had, worked out perfectly. The piano with its strange tune gave the film the slight eeriness it needed to carry its message across; I got to work with reappearing  motifs that return in the film through different interpretations; Lastly, I got to push my own limits and skills through recording a towel-muted piano and creating my own version of Latvian schlager music. In the end, the hard work pays off with another fun new project being completed and seeing my name in the credits at the end.
