These collages are physical reflections of my emotions during Summer and Winter of 2022. My feelings were heavily impacted by the Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the heartbreak it caused and is still causing people, the pain, the suffering. Long ago my motherland forcefully was invaded by Russia and the pain it caused is still visible today in the people, archives, buildings, memories.

Through rummaging my way through Latvian magazines my family had at home, I created collages on laptop and shoe boxes from the magazine cutouts, creating my own vision and noticing that what I am drawn to is freedom. Every single collage for me has a certain freedom. People seek liberty to be, to create, to say what they want to say and to belong to themselves. By making these four pieces of collages, I became free - to have said what I had to say.
